Hey folks,

I found a local guy with an alu-cab expedition gen 3 and I'm hoping to mount it to my GX. I currently have four LFD heavy duty cross bars mounted to stock rails. First off, will this suffice? Second off, can the tent be mounted directly to the bars or will I need custom brackets or something? Or should I start over?!

Thanks for any help. I'm trying to figure this out rather quickly so I don't miss the opportunity to buy it.

Thanks,

Eric

Hi again,

I bought the side rails from LFD so that I'll now have the full roof rack. I'm still trying to figure out how to mount the alu-cab RTT and I'm getting a lot of inconclusive information. I figure that if I can mount Leitner load bars to the rack that I'll be good to go. Can anyone assist me in figuring that out? Could I use a number of these along the underside of the load bar and bolt it to my cross bars?

Thanks for any help.

Do you mind sharing your experience with the full LFD rack? I have a couple of the LFD cross bars mounted to factory rails and the wind noise is pretty bad so I'm debating whether to get the LFD side rails which come with a fairing or get one of the integrated fairing bars. I don't plan on running a RTT but I don't hate the idea of having more rack space and mounting options for fuel, tools, etc.

I found the install to be very easy. I got the fairing as well and so far the wind noise doesn't bother me. Depends how sensitive you are to it. I don't find it excessive. Here are some photos with the leitner cross bars I ended up installing so I can mount the tent. I think I'll make some custom brackets for the tent so it can sit directly on top of the LFD rack.

awesome, thanks for the response and pics. I think i will follow your lead and get the LFD side rails and a couple more bars rather than messing around with the other fairing options.
