My 1991 HZJ-80 alternator only has a pathetic 60A output. It's currently holding back my 75%-done plans for a Warn 9.5XP winch and dual battery system, as well as a Mobi-Arc on-board welder. Based on the poll, what do you think is the most powerful and feasible/practical option?

Drexx, you forgot the Nippondenso option box:D

Im not sure if you can track one down in your locale, but definately the best option.

The do nothin option maybe ok if you dont have to glow your plugs often
Plenty of gassers are only running small amp alts:cool:

I'd vote for the change nothing until it needs changeing box, if there were one. Deep cycle batteries would be pretty much of an overkill unless you planned to put in an inverter, and even that wouldn't make much sense unless it was a very big inverter to justify the fuel consumption. But then you would have to carry a T.V., electric fans, electric bug zappers, a few stand lights...maybe an electric stove and a small fridge. You would also need a tent in case it rained, and that would justify a window air con...and a trailer to haul it all in.

Maybe you better change the car to a six by six.

On the other hand, a tractor trailer could carry the 80 and all the other stuff...and save you needing to bring a tent unless the container leaked...

Mean Greens ROCK!

Can you get one that's 24 volt?
