Alternator/Charging Question

1988 62. 130k. At idle, the volt guage moves around a bit, but just yesterday, the needle dropped below half and the battery light came on flicked off, and did so a few different times at stoplights. Alternator? From the looks, it is original. Thanks in advance. I have a relatively new Optima Red top batt.

alternator....sounds like it. check your belts first and rule that out. also check your primary ground wire and make sure it is secure. if alternator, any good auto parts store should be able to test it for you to verify it's bad before you drop $$ on a new one.

A&E Generator on 8th south & 3rd west can rebuild it they do starters as well

Thanks...I may just buy a new one if that is the issue, and rebuild the old one for a spare...???
