Bought aftermarket alternator(ya ya whatever) and had to swap the RF capacitor. Didn’t pay enough attention to where it came off of and now I’m not sure as the new alternator is slightly different and the picture instructions aren’t specific enough.
Not as confident in the two “mechanics” opinions I as I’d like to be.
Any knowledgeable help would be appreciated.

Does the ring end get mounted to the positive stud next to the plug or just body to body points

Ground the condenser to the case, ring goes to the bat stud.

Some alternators do this internally via a second stud coming via the regulator through the case, like the original alternator probably did.

Mechanic from work thought the same but that’s not what I’m seeing with gnob’s picture reference.
Still confused.

Do you still have the original alternator? If so check the continuity from the B stud and the stud the ring originally bolted to.

I'll try to go check my alternator before I head out this mornin. Also does it have and adapter harness from the round plug to the factory harness? Most newer VRs have the RF suppression done internally these days.

The old core is gone.
It does have the little plug harness. Didn’t read the card attached to alt that states to swap capacitor n that new alt may look different n mine looks different than the picture that’s not very clear.
