alternator belt

The A/C has it's own separate belt. If you remove it, no other belts are affected. (At least, that's how it works on my 60!!)

There is a support that holds what I believe to be the condenser for the air conditioning and alternator. It is cracked so I am having it welded. Because of this the belt is disconnected. It looks like the same belt turns the air, alternator, and power steering. There is another belt that turns something else but I am not even sure what it is. So I have a total of two belts. I apologize for the vague description but I am not as mechanically inclined as most on this forum. If you could tell me how many belts you have and what they turn it would be appreciated.

Hey no worries, it's how we all learn...

I have three belts. All go around the main pully (big one, in the middle, on the bottom.) I'll list them in order from front to back.

Alternator/PowerSteering/Main
Waterpump/AirPump/Main
AC/Main

Notes:
The Alt is on the upper left (standing in front of the truck.)
The Powersteering is on the upper right.
The waterpump is in the middle, just above the main pully. (The fan is attached to it.)
The AirPump is on the lower right. Below the Powersteering pump.
The AC is on the lower left.

Thanks for the info Doug. The air pump is the one that had me stumped. I would think that an 83 and a 87 would have an identical set up but mine is different. The difference is my alternator is below the a/c and everything is being turned by two belts. This could explain why the support for for the a/c and alternator is cracked. If this is true it would not be the first thing that I have found on this vehicle that the previous owner had cut corners on. You have been a big help. Thanks again.
