I think I read the answer to my question a few years ago but now I can't find the thread.
Were all Land Cruiser 70 series pickups in Canada, mine trucks only?
I feel like the answer is "Yes"

Interesting. Every once in awhile I see one for sale up there, but I'm a little wary because I figure it must be a mine truck and I'm guessing if it's technically illegal to drive them on the roads up there, it would be the same down here....

Most of the ex-mine trucks that end up for sale are tagged for "off-road" use only.

I’m not sure how they got registered originally but there were a small number that were registered legally and are still on the road. All of them were sold by Ens industrial in Saskatchewan. I know a dude near me who has one and he toodles around legally and with a smile on his face.
