Has anyone used these or seen them used? Im contemplating going with Alcan springs on my 62. think these orbit eyes are worth the $$ ? she'll be a DD as well as my wheeler so I dont want to compromise on-road driveability. seems like a great concept but has it been proven?

they say they give you 46degs of flex, eliminating spring twist.
heres another pic

I just got off the phone with Alcan. the orbit eyes go for $79.00 apiece. The guy I talked to said for a daily driver he recomends only running one for each front spring as they tend to cause some bounce at higher hwy speeds. said set up with four in the rear and two in the front the rig will give you a good hwy ride. only quirk is that Alcan has to built the springs specifically for the orbit eyes.

seems like the orbit eyes are a bit simpler than others. me like simple:hillbilly:

If you only put one in front, where would you put it? On the frame or on the shackle?

Also, would stock spring hangers be wide enough to prevent binding? The one in the pic looks especially wide.

Response from Alcans to my question about retro fitting an Alcans custom spring pack:

Chad To do that we will have to build all new springs because the Orbit bushings are 2.5” in diameter and 3 ¾” long at the ball shaft. The Orbit bushings add 79.00 for each eye to the base cost of the spring. Because the bushing is larger you will have to change the fix end hanger ( they are 49.00 a pair and some fab work to mount). Shackles for the other end are 89.00 a pair.

If only running one end you really want them on the frame side. The shackle side allows a considerable amount more deflection just by design..

Well I installed these on my rig up front last week(on the frame), they flex GREAT, my beef with them is that they are REALLY noisy at ALL times, even highway, when you turn, steer, when someone gets in and out of the rig, etc, any time the leaf moves a fraction of an inch, it is a great design, I am just upset they didnt add a grease zerk to the setup, it seems like a servicable item, have to take them apart every few runs, and pack them with grease to eliminate driving you nuts!

That is a pretty cool design. I am surprised that there is no grease fitting like you said as it seems it would cut down on most of the irritating noises you don't want to hear on something you drive.
Reminds me of the blade trailing arms on a dozer.
