Hey Guys,
I would like to come in for some fun this weekend. I just finished my front axle service and would like to wheel now.
Saturday is preferable. Gives you Sunday for relaxing and taking care of any broken stuff.

Also, what should we bring with us to the spot.

Thanks,
Ali.

Im shooting for sunday as it is easier for everyone to get together that day.. A few of us work Saturaday, etc etc....
As far as for what to bring, you should have a tow/recovery strap, and a shovel.. although you do have a factory winch and that makes life easy.. just make sure that you bring what ever accessories that go along with it.
I am bringing food with me.. sandwiches and water, pop, etc... so if you do decide to bring stuff, let me know as I will have my large 12v powered cooler .
And if anyone has those small radios ( 2 way ) bring those too.. I have 2 with me and that way we can communicate if we lose sight of each other or run into a problem.

Ok.... I just talked to norreen a the safari company and unfortunatly Sunday will not work. There is a group of 6 4x4's going in on Saturday and we are invited on saturday. I will think of a place to meet in Sherwood park or we simply meet out there. In the morning.

Saturday works for me. I've never been out there before, so I'd appreciate meeting somewhere beforehand. Now, I wonder what I should run for tires... :hhmm:

ok... we will meet on saturday at 10 am at the Esso on wye rd and notingham way in sherwood park..
there are directions out to the park on the safari company website. Basicly its straight out on wye road ... take a left on RR202. its a few min past the Tempo Gas Station out there.
after you turn north on RR202, you will see the signs for the park on your right hand side....its after a long sweeping bend.
please make sure you read all of the rules and regulations on the companies website.

Thanks Guys,

I looked over the alberta safari Site, but i could not find it.

Can we run Tire chains?

And how long do we intend to stay there?

thanks.

We have to be at the park between 1015 to 1030 am. There will be a short meeting and waiver signing. So I'd like to ensure that we get out of Sherwood park at 10 sharp or a few min before. It's a very easy place to get to.
If anyone needs to contact me my name is Derek and my number is 7808629347.
Ali... You can run chains no problem. Once we are out in there we are pretty much allowed to do whatever.
And you can leave at anytime to go home. Just let us know when you are taking off so we are not searching the place for you !!lol

I might just run chains on my street tires, but if I have a chance, I think I'll throw on the swampers.

I'm gonna bring out extra diesel and tow straps too.
Fire those swampers on!!! That thing will be unstoppable !!
Noreen said that it's $40 for members and $50 for non members. Members of what I dunno. I guess since we are members of te tlca we get membership status!! Lol

See you just before 10AM, need to get my tires swapped and make sure I have all my recovery gear in the truck  Not sure if I'll have a passenger with me, so might have to time share with someone else' truck if they are sticky on that.

No problem... There will be 4 of us in our LandCruiser so we can always add a person into yours .. My friend has a thing for 60 series ....
See you tomorrow.

well Im back at home.... RockDoc and I had a fantastic day out at the Alberta Safari Company. Thank you Noreen and Lee for a great day wheeling.
THere were ALOT of Jeeps out there today... I think there was a get together from the Edmonton Jeep Club. And a few other trucks and what not.. in total I guess 18-20 vehicles running around. RockDoc and I pretty much stayed to ourselves and we tried a good varaity of trails, hills, drops, etc.In some of the pics, the hills just dont look steep.. but man they were.
Some obervations for the day...
- First off, I have always complained about my tires ( Bridgestone REVO ) but they really really impressed me today in the snow and icy dirt. I aired them down to 20 psi and I just went everywhere that all others did.... and a few places no one had been. I impressed a few others out there because they simply could not belive my Cruiser had these dinky 33'' ( compared to them anyway ) All Terrain tires. But they really came through.
- RockDocs 62 is absolutely amazing. There were a few times I thought he would have to break out the winch and yet a few tries later, he was out of what ever mess we ended up in. And let me tell you... we ended up in a few pretty dicey situations. His Cruiser is pretty damn plucky. I was very impressed and I felt humbled in my cushy 80!! When that front locker goes in, its going to be one hell of a truck to contend with. AND... hes a pretty awesome guy to boot. We are planning a few other trips down the road and I hope more of us show up. We really really shocked alot of people out there whom belive LandCruisers are just cushy " mall cruisers " :p
So on to the photos... i also have a few vids as well.

I have to say though.... this thing is way WAY better than my Rubicon was. i am simply amazed with it. And yes... having factory lockers helps. alot!...

Thanks for the kind words directed toward Wobble Derek  Though I gotta say, it's fun to sit in a comfy back seat for "that's the trail there, how do we get there?" "we've got lockers" Really looking forward to getting that front locker in...

It'll be interesting to see how different the Safari Park is after the thaw, I'll bet the winch will get a testing out then :hillbilly: You and Kristin will have to work on Brandon and convince him to get a Cruiser (or get the old Rover out). He seemed like he was having a good time out there :)

I need to dig out my backroad atlases and start having a look for areas to check out. Maybe if there is somewhere to the NW (like Cadomin) we can convince a truck of two to come down from Fort Saint John for some fun too.

Man!!
Looks like you guys had fun.

the :princess: wasn't feeling so well, so i had to bail out the last minute.

Hope to see you guys soon some time.

Can you tell me how the entry fees to the park worked out and general arrangement of things at the park ?

thanks,
Ali.

You go in to the garage/office and give them $40, they give you a crappy map :) Then you head out (the trail network isn't too extensive) and try to stay away from the domestic guys who seem to do their best to block the trail when some dumb-ass or another does something stupid and needs help. After we looped around once to get the lay of the land, we went back and played around a bit more (the main trail isn't hard, but they have little side trails that have hills and pits and such).

For one, I will not buy an automatic transmission. Especially a Land Cruiser with a sloth like 4 speed auto. Also, I'm not a fan of the RHD thing, left hand turns are dangerous. I need a lhd 5 speed hj60, or bj40.

Spencer

Oh. So, you're just picky...it's not that decent land cruisers don't exist in AB anymore. Gotcha.
