Hi...
Just wondering if we can get a group outing to wheel out at the Alberta Safari Park. Lee likes having more than a few guys travel out in the park in case someone gets stuck. I havent been out there since I had my Rubicon and I want to put my Cruiser to the test. I usually would venture out with the NA4WD guys or the Land Rover Club.
Hope that we can generate some interest. I am not too sure of when the next club run day is, so it would be nice to get out sooner than later.
Derek

Interested... Never been, but I've heard the mud is nasty stuff, so going out in the snow might be nice. Any idea on cost to go out there?

I think it's $40 per truck.

I would probably be interested in that, depending on the temperature that day. Though, based on the rules on the website, I need to find a co-pilot (the lady doesn't find that sort of thing to be fun or interesting).

Well Derek, his GF and I were talking at the pub, and we really need to get out there some upcoming weekend. I've got a pretty much wide open schedule, so I can accommodate whenever. Derek, how would the weekend of the 30th/31st work for you? Chris? Anyone else interested? Any idea what weekends you'll be in town Eric?

That weekend would work out great for us. I'll call my buddy and see if he's interested in bringing out his 80. If we can get a few to commit, then I will call lee shornet ( who owns the park ) and inform hom of our plans

I figure Sunday would work ? January 31? Can we get a few vehcles to commit? I have 2 right now.
RockDoc?

I'm pretty sure. Maybe I'll even have my front locker in if we get some more weather like we had last week. :)

I would love to come, but I don't know if I can hang with you guys anymore; I drive a Cummins now. I can't find one clean decent Cruiser in this province anymore, I browse everyday.

Spencer

I'm cool with a Cummins. Well, up until we have to drag it's heavy ass out of a stuck anyway :hillbilly:

And don't go blaming the transmission for a weak-ass naturally aspirated diesel's deficiencies. :flipoff2: Works fine when you mate it to something that can make power above 2500 rpm ;)

Yea, Land Cruisers are slow enough with a 5 speed, but I'm pretty sure my old HJ w/2h was quicker than a 4 speed auto 12h-t.

I'm less worried about getting stuck rather fitting a full size pickup with an 8 foot box through trails. It's going to be interesting. And if I do get stuck, it's going to fun finding a truck to pull my 8000lbs ass out.:D

i might be into going, but not sure if i'll be around.
42's a little under the weather right now.

Always a passenger seat for you. :) Hope to get more time on the front locker tonight..... might have it together and in in time, not sure.

For one, I will not buy an automatic transmission. Especially a Land Cruiser with a sloth like 4 speed auto. Also, I'm not a fan of the RHD thing, left hand turns are dangerous. I need a lhd 5 speed hj60, or bj40.

Spencer

well spencer, you don't buy a landcruiser for the speed, you can't do 120 in the bush!

and fwiw my cruiser had no trouble doing 120-140 on the highway

(i won't get into the rhd drive being "dangerous")

don't waste your breath james.
is there another cruiser in the near future for you james? seems like a few good deals around.

The elocked front axle is coming together, but I'm not sure I'll have it swapped in and wired up in time for the Safari park.... time will tell.

Hey Guys,
I would like to come in for some fun this weekend. I just finished my front axle service and would like to wheel now.
Saturday is preferable. Gives you Sunday for relaxing and taking care of any broken stuff.

Also, what should we bring with us to the spot.

Thanks,
Ali.
