Props to Locksmith Charley, he re-flashed my ecm.

It seems I fix one thing and another problem come up.

Three keys are able to start the LC but the used/new three button remotes do not work with the alarm to arm and disarm the keyless entry.

How does one program the remotes for the keyless entry?

I did a search only to find the first part for the transponder issues.

Any one know how to get these 1998 three button remote programed to unlock/lock all the doors??

The LC stats with the three keys that were programed to the transponder.

Any one?

From the link provided above...

***FOR ALL PROCEDURES BELOW make sure you start with the following steps unless otherwise stated:

All windows are up
All doors are shut and locked except for the drivers door which should be unlocked

Program Remote: (sequence E)
1. Start with key out of ignition, drivers door is open all others closed and driver’s door is unlocked.
2. Insert key into the ignition (Do NOT Turn) and Pull key out.
3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.

Using the power lock switch on the drivers door, perform 5 lock/unlock cycles starting with lock. Use an even pace and try to go about one cycle per second. (1Cycle = 1 lock and 1 unlock).
Close, then open drivers door.
4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.

Using the power lock switch on the drivers door, perform 5 lock/unlock cycles starting with lock. Use an even pace and try to go about one cycle per second. (1Cycle = 1 lock and 1 unlock).
Insert the key in the ignition cylinder.
Turn the ignition to ON (Do NOT Start) then back to OFF.
Remove the key from the ignition.
5. Within 3 seconds the power door locks should cycle automatically indicating successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.
6. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.

Press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1 second.
Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should cycle once indicating successful programming. If the door locks do not cycle, or cycle twice. Repeat steps A and B in step 6 as your remote has not been accepted.
Repeat steps A and B in step 6 for each new remote.
7. Close drivers door.

Done.

Thanks DomSmith.

Did see this but thought it was for the 03's and up. I thought if the keys were programed to the ecm this could be avoided?

Replaced the drivers lock motor, tomorrow on to the other doors that are slow.

I think it was Sequence I that I used for my 2004. It took 3-4 times and helps to have someone read you the instructions as you do it. Timing is everything. Don't waste your time programming until you're done changing out all the actuators you're replacing. I changed one and had to go through the sequence again.

Good luck.

Ok, did all these steps over 30 times. Every time the locks cycle two times all the time, never just once like it should.
It seems that I can not get these other two remotes programed to lock/unlock the doors.

So, does this mean that the central lock ecm or the security ecm needs to be sent out for a ref-lash??

This is a crapy design of the security system.

I know a lot of people have had frustrations with these methods but most are successful. You can read the details here:

Maybe someone posted useful info/suggestions on your year? I figured I'd give the archaic manual programming a try before going to the dealer to have them programmed and it worked for me. Had another MUD buddy read the directions out loud as I completed them. We worked on a one second cadence and it worked after 3-4 tries. By myself I have had no luck. I think cadence is everything.

I do not think you need to re-flash (your first post mentioned that you already did that).

Yes, the other doors lock motors stop working after two consecutive unlocking/locking cycles.

The drivers door can unlock/lock as (fresh lock motor) much as I want, so tomorrow I will be replacing the rest of the lock motors.

Today all lock motors have been replaced and working like new.

Still can not get the alarm to acept the two adtional remotes.

When I follow the directions 1-6 the locks cycle once. Ok, good now when I follow with direction 7 the locks cycle twice??

Some times when I finish step 7 and I push on the lock or unlock button the doors will cycle twice and twice again??

This does it like this all the time. I did try to do 1-6 and shut the door. Still nothing.

Any ideas anyone?
