I'm looking at taking my tired 60-series a new direction for 2020. If any of you know of a Cummins 4BT that is or may be for sale, please let me know. It'd be nice to find one attached to a desirable transmission or adapter (i.e. H42F adapter, H55F, Dodge NV4500), but that's by no means a deal breaker.

Have cash, will travel.

TIA

Look around for old Frito truck. Frito used to chase fuel cost for years. They spent 4-5 years converting all of the delivery fleet over to 4bt with a turbo 400 built by TCI. Also they are common in small equipment like Bobcats and chippers. Also they exist in boats. Call Cummins you may find a factory reman not to out of hand. I can not recommend any of the other rebuilders. You better expect to be going slow I think the top turbo version is only about 150 horsepower

Yep, I'm a diesel nut at heart, so I'm actively shopping for the old step vans. I put out the all call to try and find the one out behind a neighbor's woodshed or the like.

I'm not expecting to go fast, I've got the LS400 for that. I was mostly content with the 2F until the rear main decided to quit (needs a qt every other fill up) and a recent compression check showed the old girl is down to the low 120s. Still drives well overall, she's just tired. I figured if I'm gonna have to go through the work to refresh the engine, I may as well get some economy out of the deal.
