Hi all,
New here and to the world of cruisers. Purchased an '01 LC about a month ago and I couldn't be happier.
This place has become a great resource for me already. The FAQ was instantly bookmarked and I've already referenced it multiple times (also has saved me some money).
I'm not a wheeler by any means - but I do a lot of mountain biking and I kept finding myself driving down sketchy dirt roads in my old Honda Accord and I knew I needed something better. After a year of searching, I finally pulled the trigger on this thing.
Attached some pictures of her. She is in need of some TLC. I'm no mechanic, but I'm hoping to slowly learn some things. I have a solid mechanic in town that's going to take care of the serious stuff. Picked up a set 285/75/R16 BFG KO2s this past weekend and I've fallen in love. Nothing beats the feeling of dropping a little extra cash on the premium option and not having to worry for years to come. The previous tires were near bald when I picked her up in Athens, OH. There was an annoying steering wheel vibration between 60-75mph that is now gone.
Next up is the timing belt. Needs replacement ASAP. I will probably have the mechanic replace the crank and cam seals as well.
>>On my engine, those seals are accessible when changing the timing belt, correct? I've seen some threads where it's said to require a lot more work to change them out. I can probably do some more searching on this...
Next things on the list: new valve cover gaskets, rear wiper motor replacement, new hood struts (on their way now).
Then... ARB bumper, roof rack, sound system/double din nav, storage system.
So.. what the hell should I do with these gold emblems? Take them off and paint? Buy new chrome ones? There seems to be plenty of threads on how to do this and opinions vary greatly... I am not a fan of the gold on white look.
Do the cool kids put the white text inside or outside with the KO2s? I'm liking the white on white.
Paid $6100 before tax. I'll be back with more questions.
