Hi,

Could somebody please elaborate on the HZJ factory aircons in terms of reliability and ruggedness?. What is the life expectancy, what kills the aircon, what is the most vulnerable part? Does the aircon need to be switched on even during winter to avoid seizure of the compressor?

Thanks in advance,

Lucas

All AC has its problems...

The compressor is the most delicate part. Fittings and seals next, then switches. My 1993 HZJ77 as the stock AC, untouched, and it works great.

The HZJ stuff is fine, it lasts a long time if you care for it.

You should run the AC from time to time to circulate the oil and keep the seals lubricated and the pump in good shape, but you don't have to go nuts.

John is spot on . Give it a service every copple of years and run it at least once a week all year round. Mine is a 97 HZJ 75 with 300000kays and still working well.
