Been digging through searches about rear suspension problems, here is where I'm at:

04 GX 142k, non nav, Air bags replaced one month ago and working great up and down since install

Took a long trip and about 45 min from home stopped to fill up gas, about 5 minutes later noticed a hard bouncy rear suspension. Took a look and even though it's on N its dropped down to the axle. Height control switch does nothing.

Pulled all fuses, unhooked battery, started up and heard the compressor running but no fill. Did the reset with pin 4 and 13 on the Obd and same result. Compressor is running. Dont hear any air leaks.

Used a Toyota scan app with my obd bluetooth. Error code C1744 Tank solenoid valve circuit. That appears to be part of the Tank reservoir and that looks like a $900 part.

Anyone have experience with that part? I'd like to keep the stock suspension running.

Someone on here on a previous thread just took out all stock oem suspension parts out and wants to sell his used parts....maybe you can get a used one for cheap

And the price to repair stock oem air suspension parts is one of the reasons people ditch them and convert to rear springs

Thanks, I'm going to look into used reservoir. Good idea. Got new bags in there already so if I can nurse it along another year and save for new suspension and tires that would be ideal.

Ok, pulled the tank reservoir. Tested tank solenoid with battery, no click. Tested gate solenoid and got a click. So need to find a used tank reservoir now.

I've got all my old parts that I removed several months ago to go to a full Icon Suspension. Make me an offer and let me know what parts you might need. I'll ship them to ya.

Thanks man, I have one being shipped tomorrow. I'll be in touch if it doesnt work out.

To remove the lines on the tank or other parts, I made one of these as recommended by a few people. .25" dia plastic tubing, 45°angle cut on the end, slit down the middle to go over the air line. Another post described it, here is a picture

So after a bunch of life events... nothing good.... I had time to work on my GX which has been parked for over a month. I replaced the reservoir tank with a tested good solenoid. Put it back together and still did not work. I then started at the Air compressor and worked my way to the bags. Air compressor was running and I pulled the line going to the Reservoir tank, air was coming out. When I pulled the line off, the Reservoir decompressed so I also knew air made it to the tank. Knowing the compressor was working to the reservoir, and from the reservoir out I was feeling good. I then pulled the passenger side wheel off and took out the passenger air bag. The line pulled right out with no resistance...hmmm. I took a look at the clear plastic connector in the top of the airbag housing and it was not in good shape. Ordered some new plastic connectors (48934-30010). Replaced the passenger side air bag with new connector (makes a solid click when its in). Put it back together and the truck works as it should. The bag is tucked up inside the frame so I couldn't hear it leaking when it was trying to fill. Fixed for about $3.

The PO said the truck would sometimes drop onto its bumpstops while driving. He had the bags replaced before I bought it. I bet it was the solenoid going bad and not the bags. Then the mechanic who did the bag replacement must have chewed up the connectors replacing the bags. Somehow they held for a bit but the next time the solenoid went out they loosened up? A bit of mystery in there but glad I have the truck on the road again.

I am now saving for a Dobinsons or OME lift and some new tires. Maybe next spring.

Hope this helps someone. Keep at it.
