Anyone else have this problem with a 100 series? I would expect this to happen to a Tahoe (which is did to my 05) but an 04 Land Cruiser! Cost to replace the bugger is aprox $840 at dealer. Started with the airbag light coming on and staying on, I was hoping it was a simple reset, but nope, needs new module. Since this was such a surpise to me and I have owned 3 100 series, I have called Toyota Customer care, they said they will 1) try to negotiate a lower rate for me with Svc Mgr at dealer, then 2) maybe get me some sort of financial assistance???

I will have officially spent more on my 04 in maintenance (90K svc) brakes, tires and now this, then I spent on fixin up my 87 FJ60...:bang:

I had the same happen on my 04 @ 95,000 miles. Lucky for me, I'm still covered bumper to bumper. Bummer to hear I wasn't the only one.

so following up, due to my "loyalty to the brand" (4 LC. and and FJ owned over time) the district mgr for Toyota is picking up 50% off the cost...sweet! thanks Toyota!

To clarify, was it a faulty airbag, or is the module you're referring to the electric/sensor components? Reason I ask is I'll be taking in my 03, as my dummy light is on as well. I better get this slightly important safety feature addressed as its been on since this past April!

It was for the electronic control module, which controls all airbags, so none worked with this failure...hopefully yours isnt that, its the biggest cost...anything else will surely be less than $800.

^^ my light was on for an evening. then it was gone for most of the next day. then it came back on and stayed on. pissed me off as well. but it was a good excuse to go in for my already late 90k service ;)

There is a website that I used to fix the module on my civic. The airbag light was staying on because the air bag module thought it'd been in an accident at some point in the past. I paid the $50, sent the module to this company, they reset it and sent it back and it was all fine.

How did you try resetting it?

Had my SRS/Airbag diagnostic done at the local dealer today. Turns out I have a bad driver side seat position sensor. Blasted same issue I had with a Honda a few years back. I'm ordering a new sensor ~$60 with discount, will install then have module reset (will pay dealer $100 for this service).

Was interesting visiting a dealer for service, first time in 9 years of Landcruiser ownership. Sitting next to unsuspecting customers waiting for the unknown news as service advisors came to speak with them. One nice lady was wincing painfully as she was delivered less than happy news about some major problem "unsafe to drive this way" was what I heard, along with a pricey quote.

No charge of course on my diagnostic visit. On the way home, I did receive a call from a nice sales lady inviting me for a test drive on the new Landcruiser- I quickly shot that down, much to my dismay. Best not put myself on a slippery slope.

Follow up on my SRS issue. As described above, dealer pulled code and told me driver side seat position sensor was bad. I ordered new sensor, and it turns out I didn't need it. I should have taken the seat out to have a look first. See pic below.

One of the wires to the sensor connector was severed. I ordered a new connector, and two repair wires for a proper connection. I soldered the new wires, and used heatshrink to make it tidy. Started up the truck, and the Airbag light cleared as I expected. Repair parts ran $40 and an easy fix, albeit quite rare I imagine.

Parts: 90980-12195 Housing connector (1 quantity)
82998-12720 Terminal, repair (wire) (ordered 2 quantity)
