Hello,

When i drive along and i hit refs higher than 2500rpm my air filter light comes on. The air filter is brand new and everything regarding air is pretty original apart from a fitted snorkel.

This didn't use to happen and started after i put the engine back in. Just wondering if someone out there had same problems?

Thanks Tim

Thanks john, i better check that then. I do have two different lights though. One says filter and the other one air filter. I'll see if there is water in that seperator and hopefully that sorts it

Can you post photos of the "air" filter light?
Thanks

There is no air filter light in a BJ-74. Drain the water that's accumulate in the fuel sedimenter. That's what triggers the 'filter' light.

He most likely has an Australian model which had air filter sensors on 70 and 60 series from 84 onwards. They have to be really blocked to come on.
They malfunction so rarely I dont even know how to fix them.
If you have a vacuum hose coming from your air filter ,you should have the air filter light
Rocknrolla , do you know someone you could borrow the sensor on the air filter box from. Just to see if it works ok. Probably cheap as chips from a wrecker.
Charles you should have one on your 75 series. Im assuming the early model 75 series had one. I pretty sure my FJ73 and HJ61 had them.

My FJ73 (1988) had the sensor on the side of the air filter box. This pic is from a HZJ75, 95 model

My Australian model (1985) definitely doesn't have an air filter light.

What do you have where my air filter light is?
I just checked old pics of my 87 hj61 and the fj73 and they definitely had them. Maybe they left it off the bare bones models until later. It was available from the 7* series inception in 84.

I'll look later today. Perhaps it's there and simply not hooked up and functional.

Thanks Rosco, I remember that white sensor under the bonnet. Dropped the car of today to get some bar work done, once I get it back I'll have a closer look at that thing. What confuses me a bit is thaht the light is not on all the time. just when i ref it up. mhhh.

The light itself doesn't buzz me really. Just wanna make sure there is no actual problem with the airflow or some vaccum operated solenoid or something s*** itself...

If I have the light, it is definitely not labeled like the one in post 9 and I'm certain I don't have a sensor on top of the air box.

If you had the sensor ,it would be down the side of the air filter , but you would know its there because you have to disconnect it when changing the air filter.
Yours is the 1st one I have heard of that does not have it. Maybe its been removed but its a lot of work for no gain.

Rocknrolla , another simple way of checking it would be to disconnect the vacuum hose to the filter and see if the light stays off.

I may just have the cheapie version of a HJ75. :)

Probably a NZ or PNG model :grinpimp:
Although I can't remember what I had for breakfast on any given day, I distinctly remember importing the HJ from
Australia. :)
