hi there, Im hoping somebody can help me with the aircon in my 100 series 1hz diesel cruiser.

The a/c is not cold. The light on the a/c switch works fine. I checked the fuses (there appears to be 2 of them, one in each footwell) and they are both fine. I am not getting any voltage at the plug which goes into the compressor. If i run a wire from the + terminal on the battery direct to the compressor plug i hear a strange noise, almost like a hiss... it lasts for a split second. In the past with other cars i have heard a clicking sound when the compressor engages - is this normal?

In any case, the a/c still does not blow cold.

I checked for voltage at both the fuses i found, both read 12V constantly (even with the a/c switch off) is this normal??

The air con was working fine last time i drove the car, although it was about a month ago!

thanks for any advice!

Ryan

compressor won't trigger if refrigerant is empty. A fail safe of sorts. I'd check there first. might need a refill or worst case replacement ac line.

A pin hole leak may allow the refrigerant to escape without you ever noticing. I went through this a while back, my rear lines had to be replaced due to corrosion. I could fill it up with refrigerant and it would be fine for a day but after that it would all leak out. I want to say there is a refrigerant peep window in front of the radiator that looks green when looking down on it. Been a while since I last checked but look for that on the driver side in front of radiator.
