Just wondering what size compressor I should get to help with my rebuild. I want something that is capable of running a few air tools and possibly even trying my hand at spray painting. Thanks in advance.

Check the flow rate/pressure needed for the biggest tool you think you will want to use, then size the compressor to that.

I think for home garage/shop use a 5Hp/60Gal single stage is perfectly adequate for most users. It is what I have. I can run impacts, air ratchets, die grinders, etc off of it. Things that consume a lot of air (like DA sanders for bodywork) would give one that size some issue. Painting for most compressors is no big deal as long as you get all the oil and moisture out of the air before it hits the spray gun.

Most of all, don't cheap out and get one a little bigger than you think you need so you do not come up short later.

Very good Suggestions.
