The ipod connection isn't terribly difficult to install, but if you have to make some choices. With 20/20 hindsight, I think a different brand may be the way to go. The AVIC-N1, I got instead of the AVIC-N2 because I had heard that the AVIC-N2 didn't allow you to watch DVDs if the car was in motion. It used the gyroscope to determine motion. The AVIC-N1 did allow you, if you grounded the handbrake. There is an update you're supposed to get for the AVIC-N1, and I heard the update disables the handbrake grounding and uses the gyro, so I got the AVIC-N1 and didn't update it. The drawback now though, is it uses the IPOD connection as an external device. The AVIC-N2, I am assuming that since it is listed as compatible with the IPOD through that IP-BUS connector, would work much better. You get better dynamic information from the IPOD displayed on the AVIC-N2. The information display and the general navigation of the IPOD through the deck....STINKS. It's not easy to use, and I think the best workaround will be to build your own playlists and play those instead of trying to browse the songs.
