If all checks out I will be closing the deal on an 04 LC with 102k for 19k. Has been very well kept, had the Timing belt done at 70k. Paint and everything looks new and under has only surface rust that has so far come off with just simple cleaning.

My question for you guys, has anybody installed an aftermarket deck to stream bluetooth from their phone? Most of my listening comes from my iphone. i know i can't replace the big screen since so much of the car information goes through that, but I was curious if anyone has had luck replacing the lower unit that has the cassette player.

Thanks guys

I have not replaced the lower unit, but every time I am in the 100, I wonder if it can be done.

I did just install the GROM unit behind the screen. Very simple install. Took less than 30 minutes. It streams via Bluetooth from my iPhone 6 and sounds great. It also allows phone calls via Bluetooth.

For $150 bucks or less, it is a great alternative.

I just installed the same one in my '06 LC. Just make sure to order the right wiring harness. I ordered mine from Amazon and they have Toyota and Lexus specific.
I tried that one first. Not sure if it's still the case but it didn't actually have phone functionality. music yes, phone no. GROM does it all.

I guess that may be the case. I am still connected to the vehicle Bluetooth in parallel on my '06 and it handles the phone duties. Not sure if you can configure the sl3b for both.

I have the VAIS and it works great streaming Bluetooth audio. It does not allow you to make phone calls...but don't you already have Bluetooth in a 2004? The way it works...you are listening to Bluetooth audio, your phone stops streaming audio and answers the phone. The phone is also paired to the LC and you are now talking through factory Bluetooth. Works for me. My wife's LX has the wires vaistech. Her sound quality is better, but it might be because hers is a mark levinson system. All I know is I have no wires and that's nice.

I needed the GROM as the '03's didn't have OEM bluetooth. I felt like VAIS's description of the device was pretty misleading since it states repeatedly "iPhone compatible" but no mention of lack of phone functionality that I ever saw in spite of what I felt was extensive research. By the time I got around to installing it and discovering that they wouldn't take it back.
