Advice on buying an 80 series

It seems as if there is limited info via Carfax, is that an issue? I am new and looking for any help I can get, anything noticeable from the photos that I should be cognizant of? Replace the engine?

That price is incredibly high considering the body damage. I'd keep looking!

Consider reading the FAQ at the top of the forum. It contains a lot of advice for new buyers and these are things you should know about before you go out looking at trucks.

Also, I don't think I'd replace a running engine, unless you plan to do all the work yourself. Even then, it will be very expensive to undertake. 80s are powerful, period. However, the 1FZ (93-97) is a good step up in power from engine found in the earlier models. If you are looking in the $5000 price range, I bet you can find a good 80 with the newer engine. I believe airbags came around in 95 if that is important to you too.

If you are in the Birmingham area go the clubhouse tab and look up Dixieland Cruisers. There are several guys local that can help. I will tell you I bought mine a little over a year ago with about 25000 less miles for 3000.00. It didn't have a winch but that's not worth 2000.00 in my mind.

I wouldn't pay much over a 1000 for that truck with that body damage. Here is a nearly identical one on bham craigslist for 3900 - it is overpriced too.

Both of these trucks look exactly like mine when I bought it - for around $4k with 195K miles almost 4 years ago.
