Greetings all.

Ironically, two days ago I typed up introduction for myself and our LJ70 for posting here. Since I haven't been able to get photos to upload, I held off posting it. Before being able to accomplish that I have had a issue crop up requiring immediate attention. I will get around to the aformentioned very soon. In the meantime...

My rear welsh plug, yah the one that is at the back of the engine, about six inches off the firewall and virtually impossible to get at, sprung a hole today and pissed out all of the coolant. Anyone else had to change theirs? And if so, were you able to get it done by dropping the tranny or did you have to pull the engine? It goes without saying I am all ears to any other creative, less invasive solutions any of you bright guys or gals have come up with along the way!

I am in the middle of nowhere Costa Rica btw... any yah's or nah's on using JB water weld to get me to civilization?

Thanks in advance

The only way is to pull the engine or give Lostmarbles idea a shot by giving it a good clean back to metal then knead a good two part epoxy steel and push that in there. I don't know how long it will last but should get you back on the road until you pull the engine.
Good Luck :)

220k miles and 29 years. It's a pain in the ass but, as annoyed as I am to have to pull the stove out... I'm trying to temper that annoyance with gratitude that THAT is where it's leaking from... Replacing all 12 plugs while it's out.

Mind taking a few pics? Had a scar a few months ago but it ended up being the hose into the firewall. I felt your pain for a day or so
