Trail Crew L.A. County TLCA and So Cal Land Cruisers are meeting with the San Bernardino National Forest OHV coordinator on 7/30 to survey our newly adopted and assigned trails (2N87Y and 3N08). If you guys are interested, we are meeting up at the McDonalds off I-15 and Sierra Highway between 7:30 and 8:00.

The plan is to caravan up to the USFS station near the Big Bear Discovery Center and meet up with our coordinator at 9:00 near the flag pole. This should be a easy Sunday drive to a few of our trails. Although this isn't going to be a decent wheelin' trip, bring your family, lunch, and some drinks and enjoy a stroll through the trails. There's a strong possibility that Senior Editor Ben Crockett from 4wd Toyota Owner magazine will accompany us. The goal is to get other Land Cruiser/Toyota clubs to get involved to keep our trails unlocked and safe. This is also your chance to speak up about the route designation program deadline that's quickly approaching...

Perhaps SoCal 80's can express interest to adopt-a-trail. Hope to see a few of you there...

That sounds doable and fun. Which number is Sierra Highway - 30? Specific exit for the choke and puke (McDonalds)?

Sierra Highway is the exit for Lytle Creek. Just before entering the Devore area off I-15.

congrats on your adoption. you might look into the way you can claim hours no the trails...in colorado, in addition to hours we work on our trail, we can claim any hours spent on any trail, including time to and from the trail head, regardless of whether it's our club's trail or not. we all pick up trash regardless of whether or not it's our trail anyways, and the hours help us out at legislation time.

Ok - different way than I normally go up to Big Bear, but I think I'll tag along.

Great to hear people getting involved. I too am very anal about picking up trash on the trail. I would love to attend but I am in a wedding that day. Brent will represent and hopefully I can help out next time. Thanks for the heads up.

What a great idea, trail maintenance. Used to do it all the time on foot trails, might as well do a truck trail. I cannot do the 30th(running pankake breakfast at church) but others dates, yes keep us posted.

Bump - anyone but me going Sunday?

So far we have 6-7 rigs planning on going...Hope you still make it.

I thought more 80's would be interested. Maybe next time...Eitherway, I'll forward you the USFS contact info to you.

Planning on it and looking forward to meeting your group. Haven't pulled my maps yet - these trails 80's friendly? You guys with your short wheel bases can get places we can't.

Brent - Looked up 3N08 is a connecter road from the north end of Holcomb Creek at 3n14 to 3n16. No mention of difficulty. Can not find 2N87Y on my maps. Easy access to 3no8 from Fawn Skin, where our group had lunch last trip. Saturday church is sounding like a plan.

The Big Bear Discovery Center is on the North side of the lake, @2.5 miles past fawnskin. If I can go, I would prefer to meet up with the trail team at the flag pole 8:30 - 9:00 ish.

Thanks - Let's play it by ear if you can go.

In addition to Phil Aaland, Art Banks, Ed Gilbert, Craig Matthews, Chris Herron, Brent, Mark Algazy, and myself, I received an email today from Ben Crockett from Toyota 4wd Owners magazine. He plans on joining us for a future article before another cool photo shoot later in the day.

Mark,

I plan to meet up with you guys at the ranger station at 8:30 - 9:00. It is a bit out of the way for me to meet at Sierra Hwy, especially if I take the 40.

Chris

It'll be good to see you again Chris!

Ditto for me. I'll just see you guys at the Ranger Station between 8:30 and 9:00. Much easier from the OC.

Chris, when do you plan on leaving - perhaps meet up and caravan up there? I assume you are heading out the 91. Maybe meet at the Carl's off Green River around 6:30? CB channel 30?

I will be heading out on the 91 so I would be happy meet up at 6:30 and caravan with you. Hopefully, you can handle the slow speed of a 40...
