So Cal Land Cruisers is planning on working on a couple of illegal hill climbs on our shared and adopted 3N08 trail that were discovered during our initial survey with Greg Hoffman. We will need to strap up and/or winch a few large logs and then place a few rocks to discourage and prevent further damage on the slopes.

The plan is to meet up at the Big Bear Discovery Center at 9:00 a.m. sharp. We could really use the manpower to tackle these problems before winter is upon us. Anyone from So Cal 80's available by chance?

Mark

If it were the weekend, I'd come, but no chance on the 15th.

 I've still got my September calendar hanging on the wall at the office. Haven't changed it yet!

Ok - put me down for a maybe.

Chris - missed you at the Japanese Classic Car Show Saturday. BIL and I were there with his two race cars again. Yota had a '61 FJ25 (green) and a '65 FJ45 pickup (red) there this year from the museum. Beautiful trucks! No category for 4Wheel this year I guess? The Datsun Patrol that 'won' last year was there again, but was not garnering much attention. Show was about 1/3 again as large as last year.

Brent

Brent,

The 15th is a Sunday.

Chris

I would like to be there to help but I can't provide much manpower at the moment, still healing. Good luck though and thanks for representing our respective groups and sport in such a positive manner.

Mo don't worry about the manpower dealio. Show up and provide some humor! Let me know if you need a ride...in a 40, of course :D

Maybe I could wear a paper bag with a couple of holes to see out of. The unknown comic returns to wheel!:flipoff2:

I'll give it a go, pretty early for me though. I'm not usually awake until 9:00.

Honk if you see a white 80 swerving on the way up ;)

It's been a while; how long should it take from the 405/55?
(Or should I say: I HAVE TO WAKE UP WHEN? )

I should take right at 2 hours +/- 15 min. FYI the 330 is closed so you will have to take Waterman/18 up or go out the 38 and come in the east side. Make us proud. :D

Boyd,

If it's easier quite a few rigs are meeting up at I-15 and Sierra Avenue at McDonalds at 7:30 to caravan through and up the 18. There are a few 40's and Rich in his 80 coming up from O.C. I believe we're planning on grabbing some grub in Fawnskin after gathering up a few rigs from the Discovery Center. Glad you can join us!

Sorry I missed you. Oh wait, you didn't even make it! :flipoff2:
I heard you had to blame it on a j**p.

We made some serious progress returning illegit trails to nature. It's amazing how much damage a few (alright, a lot) handfuls of pine needles and some pinecones will cover!

Thanks for inspiring me to help!

Boyd

Spoke with Rich last night and it sounds like you guy's accomplished a whole lot! We're going to be scheduling another date in the near future...or atleast a snow run without any J**ps and/or sniveling pukes requiring a babysitter. Lesson learned...:flipoff2:

Thanks again for your time and energy, Boyd!

Post up a date as soon as you can and I'll swing it this time.

Here is a link to a few photos that I took:

http://socallandcruisers.com/photo/index.php?folder=/2006 Club Runs/Adopt-a-Trail 0ct 15th/

I tried to get a bunch of before and after shots but they did not come out too great. Also, my camera took a dump so I did not get photos of everything.

BTW, we ended up removing the same fire pit that we removed on our first outing as well as cleaning out a bunch of beer cans and trash. It is amazing the mentality of some of the people that use our forests...

Thanks again to those that came out to help!

Here are a couple of before and after shots of a trail we blocked and tried to camouflage:

Chris - you've got to be kidding - the exact same place. That's amazingly stupid of the asshats that actually think it's safe to light a fire there, even in a rock surrounded fire pit. That doesn't even cover the beer cans/bottles etc that total jerks leave around.

Thanks Otis, Boyd and all those who went out. We gotta figure out how to stop all these retards that are making us all look bad.
