Anyone add rear seat video to a 98? If anyone has any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it. Im planning to add RSV to my 98, and have been told that the 98 does not have any bracketry for mounting the standard Toyota system.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

id do aftermarket screens in the headrests. much easier to view.

I'd go to Costco, buy 2 DVD players for $100 each and let the kids have at them....

A clean and not to expensive way to go is aftermarket. I got a system that installs overhead behind the sunroof and replaces your overhead lights. It is all in one unit with minimal wiring since the headsets are wireless and it has a FM transmitter if you want to listen the the movie through your speakers. In that position the back 2 rows can view the screen. Try to get a least a 9 inch screen.

Price range $400-$1000 depending on model and if you are doing a DIY install.

Happy nonwining kids priceless:beer:

Count this as another vote for headrest monitors. Much more flexible in options (who's viewing what, etc), easier to install, and doesn't block your rear view.

This thread is useless w/o pix:)

Would be useful to have some more info, like
Brand?
Model?
Source?

I went with the headrest monitors. Found them on Ebay for a pretty good price. Came already in headrests, so I didn't have to destroy mine. Headrests are a perfect match to the factory ones. I believe they are made by SAAV. And also, I was told they were out of a RX300. I have them hooked up to my Kenwood DDX-8017.

It looks very nice. I've found something similar:

I don't know if the adjustable poles are safe.
Hou do you route the cables? I don't see them in your pictures.

The poles on mine seem identical to the factory ones. The only difference is that the headrests adjust and lock in the angles rather than being able to just be pushed back and forth. Keeps the person sitting in the front seat from messing up the angle you are watching the screen at by leaning their head back too hard.

I routed the cables thru the back of the seats. The rear bottom 1/2 of the seat comes off and I was able to feed the cable up thru the top of the seat coming out the same hole as the pole harness. Under the seat, I ran under the carpet up into the console and up to my stereo in the dash.

The Kenwood DDX-8017 has a neat little fuction that allows it to separate the front and rear video & audio. I can be watching and listening to TV up front, while people in the rear are watching and listening to a DVD.

Awesome!

Im going to go the headrest route as well. Thanks for all the info!

The Invision Revo2's are pretty sweet. You can catch OE-for-Lexus kits on eBay every now and then.

how much did you pay for those?:bounce:

the worst part about the factory center mounted fold down screen is you, as the driver lose the rear veiw mirror, i hate it, plus the two rear passangers have to view at a bad angle, head rest monitors are the only way to go.

wow thats so cheap compared to those headrest monitors they charge you for $2000
