Adding Heated seats?

Yes, it's wonderful! I put the switches in the center console as shown in the picture below. This is the kit I used:

Wiring was extra easy, but installing the elements in the seat sucked since I know nothing about upholstery. It turned out great though and I've been using them for the past year now with no problems. The best money I've spent on my FJ.

A tip I learned: You know where the metal bar runs across the middle of the seat cushion? I ran the heating pad all the way down that crevasse and back up the other side with the rest being flat. It was pretty easy after I cut all the rings out. When reattaching, I used nylon zip ties and it's been fine for awhile now. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip.

I assume you had to make holes in the heating pad to reattach the seat cover.

Nope, no holes. I actually folded the element down into the seat where that metal bar crosses so that I didn't have to do any holes (assuming I'm thinking of the same location as you are). In the end, the seat bottom did something like this: ---------\*/--------- The flat parts being the flat part of the pad, the V being where I folded the pad down into the crease in the cushion. The * is the metal cross bar. Did any of that make sense?

Makes sense but what's holding the seat cover to the seat?
I ended up making only a center hole and reattached with a tie wrap. There are three of them but the two outside ones would have required cutting into the tape-covered capillaries and interrupted the continuity of the heat element. (I think)
Anyway, the seat is back in the truck and, like yours, seems to work great.

Honestly, I don't remember. I know the seat cover is in place and tightl, but it's been a year since I installed it and didn't take pictures. It's hard to surprise your wife with heated seats if you don't rush (I'm pretty sure she would've wondered why the seats were out and naked had she come in the garage).
