As of last meeting I tink it was determined that we will go a head with officer elections next meeting per the club bylaws. Let's use this thread to discuss who would like to run.

The three officers positions need to be voted in, while the remaining two board members can be filled by volunteering. If there are more than two wishing to fill the board of directors seats, a vote will be held. Here is a cut from the bylaws regarding the duties of each officer.

The PRESIDENT shall preside over all Board meetings. He/she shall have the duty of carrying out the policies and decisions of the Board of Directors. He/she shall be responsible for Alamo City Land Cruiser Bylaws and memberships. He/she shall appoint all committee chairmen as needed. Oversee general marketing activities to the extent necessary to produce revenues such as arranging for event sponsorships and promotional activities like sweepstakes, and fundraising.

The EXECUTIVE VP shall assist the President and act as President during the absence of the President. The EVP shall coordinate all Alamo City Land Cruiser and TLCA sanctioned events and be responsible for maintaining event records. He/she shall be responsible for general public relations activities with other organizations and the media.

The SECRETARY shall keep all Alamo City Land Cruiser records. Shall take minutes of all meetings. Shall write all correspondence. Shall assume the responsibility of ledger roll call and determine the number of voting Officers and Delegates present. Member activities to recruit new members and retain current members which could include the preparation and management of materials, direct mail campaigns and other types of member communications.

Any two volunteering members of ACLC will be able to fill the open seats. In the event of multiple volunteers, a simple majority vote of ACLC members shall be held.

Right now the positions are filled by

President - Benjamin
EVP - Brett N.
Secretary - Kelly
Board member - Kevin
Board member - Shawn

If you would like to nominated someone please do and like wise please post if you would like to run for one of the positions.

Good question. Technically the bylaws state that only official ACLC members can vote, however we may need to adjust that. I think a voting member should be anyone whom attends at least 4 meetings a month or the likes?? maybe? Otherwise we need a majority of the official members present to vote and Kelly should have that list. Probably something like 7 members would make a majority if we have the 10 official members needed for TLCA.

Well, I think being an "official member" is important. It's not that hard to be a member. All you have to do is be a TLCA member, send the Secretary your email and a note saying, "I want to be a member". If that's too difficult, then do we really want them as a member? I mean, there's got to be some level of commitment.

While attending meetings is good, keeping track of whose attended four meetings over the past year is going to be difficult and who wants to perform the job of meeting cop?

I'll ask Kelly about the numbers needed according to our current records.
 
For those reading this I believe Ben meant 4 meetings a year and not month. Do we nominate someone via this post or pm you directly? or wait until the February meeting?
 
Hmmmm. Another good question. My thought is either is a good way.

Damn it Jen you were suppose to buy a Toyota alread so we wouldn't have a problem. :p j/k We do need to asses your situation because you have contributed so much to the group but are offically excluded. Maybe the Board needs to pass an exception motion for you. ;)

On about the elections though. It would be ideal to follow the bylaws but I was just throwing out ideas in the event we don't have enough members voting for a majority. I agree it wouldn't be very fun etc. to have someone log the members at each meeting.

I'd like to consider pushing elections back one more month. We may have more members and a wider selection of those willing to serve. So March vs. February. Any objections?
