My 60 has been getting a progressively worse smell of acetone that started a few days ago. I'm guessing there must be something wrong with the fuel system, but it just does not smell like petrol.

Does anyone have experience with this? The search only turned up a similar thread in the 55 section that was never resolved.

Cheers!

Have you checked for exhaust leaks in the engine compartment?

Do you get the smell inside the cabin or just around the car or inside engine compartment?

You make an assumption --

Maybe he's removing his own fingernail polish...

Is something molding in the A/C evap box?

Fried wires? All the electrical working ?

I wish, but no, and if a bottle had been left there it would have evaporated by now.

OK theory 2: a starving or diabetic animal is dying nearby. Yes I'm serious. Animals only produce that much acetone when the body is starving, or a diabetic is suffering from severe insulin deficiency. I think it happens in winos too. I watch House.

That's an interesting theory, but I doubt that there is a diabetic, starving animal somewhere in my truck :)

I'll try to redouble my checks on the exhaust leak thing. Anyone else have an idea as to what it may be?

Try washing your floor mats. We had the same problem in our work truck, it was painful to ride in it from the smell. Someone stepped in something at the gas stationed and smeared it into the floor mats. Good luck, enjoy the free high.

Your 60 is cooking meth at night because you don't pay enough attention to it? :hillbilly:
