Hello,
My wife inherited a 97 Buck LeSabre that is white that we call the egg. Anywho we received this car from her Grandmother w/ a wopping 33k on the clock. The AC was not working when we received the vehicle and I thought it probably just needed to be recharged and we would be good to go. While charging w/ 134 we could instantly hear and smell the leak. After some snooping around it was determined that the condensor was cracked. $150 bucks later, some beers and a couple of hours a new condensor was installed. I charged the system and after 2-3 days the AC was no longer working. I put some sort of leak stop w/ a red dye in last night and another 120z can of 134. So far I have not seen any of the dye coming out on the high side or the low side. The problem that I am concerned about is that the ac works great when engaged but when you turn the ac off with the car running I hear a very noticeable chattering type sound coming from the area of the compressor. Anyone had this issue before? When I turn the AC back on the sound goes away. Just trying to trouble shoot this before we head out of town for vacation this Friday. TIA.
