Sorry, previously posted this in the wrong section.

Have an '86 HJ60 and my AC is rocks! PO recharged it and it's ice cold... but when I come to a stop with the AC on, the idle RPM's go up from 5-600 to 1000. Is this normal or is something hooked up wrong?

A/C Idle

It is adjustable, but the factory idle recommend for the 2F with the a/c on was 1000 - 1200, and my normal is around 800. The extra idle is to make up for the additional load on the engine with the a/c compressor engaged.

If you have cold A/C, and its not causing any other issue, leave it alone and just make sure it doesn't continue to creep higher on the idle settings over time. (Vacuum leak, other mechanical problems with the idle up hardware, etc.)

I figured that it was to compensate for power lag while AC is on, but seeing as how my Cruiser has a 2H, I turn it off going up hill anyway... not that it makes any real difference. Turbo is looking better and better every time I haev to make the climb home.
