I recently noticed the AC idle mechanism doesn't work on my 1HDT (HDJ81). I pulled the hose and noticed a metal valve inside. This end of the hose attaches to the idle up actuator next to the injection pump. I asked a buddy to verify if his 1HD-T has that metal piece and his does not, its just a simple hose.

Question is: what is this exactly? It looks like a schrader valve but I wonder if maybe its just preventing a vacuum...The idle up actuator does not have a hexagonal shape where the hose fits so surely this can't be right...

I haven't seen one before and I cant think of a reason why it needs that metal thing in there. There is nothing complex about the fast idle up.

Thanks for the reply.

I cut the vac hose and pulled out the metal piece. It was a screw...

Why the original owner plugged it up is beyond me. Getting vac now, but no idle up. Just needs a bit of adjustment.
