So for years I've been wondering what to do about the AC on Burt and didn't want to spend a bunch of money to do a 134 conversion. I've read numerous threads claiming that using r134 in an r12 system won't work etc. Well it works just fine in a 1988 fj62 and blows air about 34 degrees. I do believe that's cold enough. And apparently it doesn't make a difference to the system. So why do so many folks insist that components need to be changed to use r134?
No matter.... I now have cold AC in my trail truck. I'm spoiled

AC is on the short list of things I need to do to Moonshine.

Are you sure that your truck wasn't previously converted? IIRC it's only the drier that needs to be switched out. I think that all other components are the same.

Everything is original. Every mechanic at the shop agreed that the only difference is that 134 doesn't get as cold as 12. But it works just fine.
