I have been using the AC a lot down here in TX. I was wondering if it was good to turn the AC off and or fan before starting the engine. I know in older vehicles the AC would put a strain on turning the engine over. Newer automobiles have electrical shut off switches so when starting the engine the AC temporarily shuts off. I think I got this right.

Well, is it o.k. to start the engine with the AC on, or should I turn it off?

Cheers, and stay cool.

I beleive that on the FJ's the A/C amplifier needs to see the engine run before it allows the compressor clutch to engage. It wouldn't hurt to shut off the A/C though. I don't notice any difference with my BJ60 whether the A/C is on or off when starting.
