These are a professionally made mod for FJC's designed to provide more storage space and a new mounting position for CB/short wave radio. Made of sheet metal and has 5 mounting anchors rated to hold up to 124lbs each. In my tests I've had approximately 13lbs of random stuff on the shelf on any given day (3 pistols with extra clips, gloves, wallet, LED light, Sun glasses, checkbook, and some papers). Didn't really have much more room but glad I had room for all that stuff...

Installation is a breeze and it looks like it belongs. Nice addition if you're looking for more storage inside your FJC!

looks good ... I've seen a few "home-brews" on the Blue Room that are really sweet ... "Wikid" made a really nice one, but there are others ... someone recently posted a "console" that ran from the mirror wont to the roof-top light with netting on the sides that has some promise, but it is expensive ... best I've seen was a console out of an Uplander the guy bought on flea-bay and retrofitted it to hid FJC ...

I really like it, but that's a bit pricey. I've been toying with that very idea myself.
Thanks for your comment.
I became annoyed with having no convenient place to have my pistol and sunglasses specifically so I went googling... I saw a shelf for FJ 40's and a heavily modified land rover salvaged plastic version and decided to take a Stan at making one myself that was meant to go in an FJC. Had an engineer help me put it in a really pricey program and them had a sheet metal fan shop cut and bend the prototypes. From there a few more adjustments and then had to make a bunch to get the production cost per shelf down. Making one (unless you own a CAD program and sheet metal equipment) will cost you about $400 - $500. I had 100 made initially with the thought of helping folks like you not have to go through the trouble of making just one.
Truthfully, I'd be happy if I just break even after selling 99 as long as 99 people enjoy the use of the shelf. I had a need and decided to do something about it and try to help a few fellow cruiser owners while I was at it.

Please tell your friends and spread the word...

Updated. Had to remove anything about selling - belongs in classifieds. I LOVE Ih8mud so I don't want to do anything to get the boot...

I don't doubt that all the development and production time was expensive. I have the means to cold form and cut. If I was doing it for (just) myself I'd make it out of several pieces I could fasten together (limits of my 36" shear and break), instead of cutting & forming a single piece of metal. Its a super clean design that I can admire, but its the DIY in me that's flinching.
