It's actually in an fj62, but I figure you guys all have autos, so I'd put it here. I was out wheeling this weekend and discovered that on the steepest inclines my tranny is slipping (only slightly...a few seconds at a time). I know deeper pans, and longer fluid pickups are ways of fixing this problem. I don't know if any of these parts available for Cruisers. What do you guys think?

I have not experinced that particular problem. How steep is "steep"?

I'd say maybe 35 degrees

Ever had the pan off and the filter cleaned? I could see where the filter screen could restrict fluid from getting back into the pan quickly enough to keep feeding things. This might only come to light on steep sustained terrain like you may have found. Any other symptoms? Temp OK? Fluid smell different after this event?

Never pulled the pan. A few months ago I did a passive flush and added a cooler and synthetic atf.

It may be slightly underfilled b/c I never did the proper procedure to check the level.

I'll do it and get back to you.

After a proper measuring of the atf fluid turns out I'm a quart low. This should definitely solve my climbing problems!

Yeah, that'll help but consider the screen issue as well, since you're pushing some big meats and I'm sure this won't be the last time you're seeing just hood and sky....
