A "what is this" question

This is in the drivers side rear wheel well. Looks like an electrical connection for something and the wires with the pin ends look like they are supposed to be plugged in? All my lights work so I don't think it's related to that? No having issues with anything else not working?

Looks like trailer wiring of some type.

Looks like the empty socket is directly above that harness in the first photo.

I agree though, probably a trailer wiring retrofit of some kind.

Yeah, those contacts are missing the connector. I have an unused AHC connector under mine that looks almost like that but a few shreads of the plastic connector are still on mine, it got crushed somehow. On yours it looks like they were ripped out of the plastic connector that GregLCA referenced above...

x3. Looks ripped out. If there is another trailer hookup near the bumper it probably doesnt work. My FJ has some sort of pigtail harness you buy that goes from the frame to the rear bumper when you add a hitch.
