I am testing a recently purchased 8274 before final hook up. I connected power and nothing. Using the "Trouble Shooting The Model 8074 & 8274 Winches" guide, the solenoids and remote switch test fine. There is continuity between motor terminals F1 and F2. The troubleshooting guide also states to check terminal "A" for a short to the housing. I am confused on the "short" definition. I have continuity between the "A" terminal and the housing. Is this correct? If so, I will try hot wiring the motor. If the motor works, I will recheck the grounds.

Thanks.

If they don't want A to be shorted to the housing -- and you have continuity between A and the housing, then you have a short. Bad news, but maybe just needs a new or rebuilt motor?

Also, were those checks with or without it being hooked up to the solenoid pack? If so, then it could be that there is a problem with that.

The checks were with the solenoid pack disconnected. I also just finished calling Warn. The continuity check is the old way of testing. The "easier" and sure way of testing is the hot wire method. I will try this after work!

Thanks,

Sweet! I also like easy, happy endings when it comes to wiring:)
