someone should start a sticky that lists all (what little there are) parts sources etc. for the 45LV, along with which parts are interchangable with other models. or has this been done somewhere already?

Yep......root45.com ;)

I am going to update the parts section soon. Keep in mind that a lot of the LV parts are the same as FJ40 parts.

that is exactly what i was referring to. for those of you who are in the know, it would really be helpful to those of us who are not in the know as to which parts are interchangable etc. maybe there could be some kind of list that helps with this. from what i have seen it is dificult to look at the parts catalogs and tell which parts are carry over and are not. plus i am sure many will work even tho the catalog/manual says other. case in point the 2F engine being able to be installed in the F orig. truck.

I think there would be too many variables for such a list. i think your best bet is just to ask the questions. like will a 78' 2f from a fj55 fit in my 65' fj45lv, and what all do i need from the fj55, and what other parts will I need?
but if you ask what engine will work best in a lv well everyone will add one and the only thing holding you back from putting what ever you want in there is your fab skills and how much time you want to put into your resto.
the easiest way to get up to speed with everything fj45lv is to read this thread from start to finish

it might take you a few days to a week but if anything should be a sticky it is the above thread. it really has all your answers to your questions.

Mostly everything drivetrainwise is completely up to you. We could make a list that tells you that you can put Volvo portals under your LV, but you can do that with ANY vehicle. The specific 45LV parts that are out there are what you see other than the new Panama parts that are coming out. The rest is either the same as a 40 or you can use whatever you'd like :D All you need is time, money, and some fab skills/tools.

That's right, a minmum of four is required. :grinpimp: Seriously, anyone thinking about a 45 should be jumping at it now. The parts and information available has increased a boatload in the last two(?) years. Thanks to a few obsessesed and addicted individuals.

HTH,

thanks AZkick, i have seen that thread, but it has been a while and i don't think i was an LV owner at the time. but yes, that is the kind of thread i was talking about. also, over on the 55 board, there is a sticky that lists out all the rubber parts needed and sources them for you. hugh time saver, which would be nice to have. SOR does not seem to have much according to there site. i checked into having the oval door plugs made and it was a joke. thousands of dollars for a part which should sell for .50 cents. not going to happen, too few buyers for such an expensive product. now if you want round, i can hook you up. i did notice that i think it was TLC converted the holes of one of their resto's to round, and used a round plug. ok, but not orig. i have also seen some patched and smoothed. what exactly do those holes do? since i have never actually touched an LV i have no idea? doe anyone know where TLC sources there AC vent registers. it is not Vintage Air, i checked.
