Found this little nugget in the storage facility where we just moved. An '85 or '86 Toyota Sunrader 4x4 EFI. I read they only made about 86 of these or so. Highly sought after by enthusiasts and people who wanna go places cheaply (~17mpg), reliably and without leaks (fiberglass top). I think I'm in love...

pretty sexy, I must say...17mpg...doubt it

Just going off one enthusiast website but not entirely out of the question. My friends 22re 4runner loaded half way with gear could get about 30 on the highway (not on steep grades mind you). Speedy it is not, but it sure would get you there in style and the seats i've seen look quite cushy...if the epic brown of those 1980s interiors don't beige you to death. :D ....still wants a Tercel 4WD SR5 too...dangit...:bang:

The all trac? I believe they had rear lockers

No, that was the Previa van or the Celica later on, and I don't think they lockers. the Tercel Wagon (JDM as Sprinter Carib) does not have lockers to my knowledge but did have a trick transmission where you can shift into 4WD at any speed since it didn't have a center diff. Also if the car was equipped with a 6 Speed there was an "Extra Low" gear that gave the final drive a 17.6:1 ratio. And it was sometimes equipped an inclinometer! But, with 63 HP from a carbureted engine...you aren't going anywhere fast just like that Sunrader.

Dude that's what I'm talking about the tercel all trac...I've wanted one forever....I think everyone knows we are dorks now...

Haha yeah, I think the cat's out of the bag on this one...We just seem to have an obsession with old, slow but unique Toyotas amongst our other idiosyncrasies...

Just met the cool lady who owns this gem. She is thinking of selling it. She redid the interior, looks nice if still somewhat 1980s and the engine was rebuilt 5k ago. Gets 17 MPG on the highway. probably will ask $16,500. Also there are only 29 of these trucks so she tells me. daggum...

She is on the forum for these trucks and is a neat lady, a bit of a nerd/toyota nut like us.

I wish I had money...

no kidding...
