My wife only complained about two things when she was riding in the pig: the seats are dusty/old and the windows have no UV protection. I bought some camo seat covers from SOR and she's OK with those until we get the seats reupholstered. I wasn't sure how to resolve the other issue without straying too far from the OEM look but noticied someone mention 3M clear film which reduced heat and has high UV protection. Looks like this product would work for all criteria:

I vote for the OG tint!!!

What was the OEM key configuration on these vehicles? One key for everything? My ignition key looks original Toyota or at least it's the same shape as my original '85 key. I have a separate key that unlocks everything else: doors, gas, and tailgate. Maybe the ignition was replaced at some point with an original key blank?

I believe your's are correct. One for ignition and one for door locks and the tailgate window. Now, they might have changed through the years, but that how both of mine were, 71s.

Thanks for that feedback. I received two sets and the keys on both sets looked similar with the ignition keys looking like a "Toyota" key and the door keys looking different. They are more squarish at the top....best way I can describe them.

I also have two different keys but it doesn’t make any difference. Locks and ignition are so worn after 45 years either one works at all locations. Haven’t tried the house key yet but it’d probably work too!

My mind is straying over here. Starting to look at importable (now or soon) little brothers. 1997 75 series with 151k kilometers. Interior looks cherry which is rare over here.

Yeah. That’s what I would get. Any idea what kind of value that 55 in Saudi is ?

No idea what the interior on that one looks like or whether or not it has A/C. I'm guessing between $5k and $10k. I was going to try to find out. It's only been listed for about 10 days and doesn't have a price listed.......not unusual over here where everything is negotiable.

I'd be VERY interested in knowing the price. 2F and 4 speed?

Pretty sure the the 4x and 55 series are the same as the US; '76 and up is 2F and 4 speed. Unfortunately most have front drum brakes. I think the 40s got disk at some point but it may have been very late, like 83/84. I haven't personally laid hands on a 55 yet but I'm guessing they might have drums as well.

Edit: Checked with another expat mud member and confirmed that they are all drum brakes but 2F and 4 speed through 84. I think the FJ45 went through 1986 and the motor changed to the 3F for the last two years.......I think.

I had a colleague speak to the owner. It's in Riyadh and I'm considering going to see it. No A/C or PS. Owner sent a video and it's a bit rougher than it looks in the photos. Not rust-wise but just beat up; loose door handles, missing driver's door lock, etc. Interior has been reupholstered at some point in some rather middle eastern brown velour stuff; headliner in same material. Very well done but not what I would typically want. All easily rectified. Video had engine running and it sounded like a typical 2F. My colleague has the impression that the guy is pretty rich and when asked about price he said something like, "I've been offered 10 and one person offered 20 but I don't know if they are serious. I want someone to come see it that will appreciate it. Come look and I'm sure price won't be an issue." The 10 and 20 would be thousands SAR so, for reference, 20k SAR is $5333.
