So I just picked up an '02 LC. The ABS, VSC, VSC Off, and BRAKE lights came on, went off, and are now on constantly, except every once in a while they will turn off. (not to mention the small letter green "trac" light is also on) Oh, it has 80K miles on it, in case that is pertinent.
Went to dealership. They said they can not get the trucks computer (ECU? i think) to communicate with their diagnostic at all. They then said following Toyota protocol that the next step is to remove/replace the ECU and that I would also have to remove/replace a master brake assister or something? And that it's all one piece and it would be $3,900. Holy crap! I hope I can get a work around? Then of course, they had to let me know I can't get it through emissions with the brake light on, which I thought was really cool of them. I'm hoping it's a wheel sensor and I can get it fixed and it will go off? Do I really need an ECU? Why isn't it communicating? Any suggestions? fixes? for this shell shocked newby LC owner???
