Brussels is on my list of places to spend some time in one of these days. It always looks cool the few times you see it in a movie and sounds cool when it's mentioned in books.

OOOOO I love that 4dr PU, what crusier designation is that?

That would be a Land Rover designation...

Brussels is a great town to visit. There are so many other great places to check out within a 2 hour drive you could literally spend months there and never get bored - even better if you like !

I spent some time near there. Was on a trip with no itinerary and we stopped in Brugge for a night, and stayed for 5 days... beautiful town!

Little story... we were walking around town looking for somewhere to get a couple beers and noticed a bunch of people heading down a very narrow alleyway. Of course we followed them. It opened up into a huge courtyard with hundreds of people drinking and having a blast. We joined in the fun.

Shortly after we got there, a few guys started asking us a bunch of political questions that seemed a bit obtrusive but we kind of played it off as them just being curious about Americans. One guy in particular took a real interest, bought us a bunch of beers and as we got to know him, he told us that we'd somehow gotten into the private local hangout for the Nazi party. Lucky us I thought to myself. :whoops:

By then we were pretty well on our way through the beers and were very curious about them and spent the next couple of hours having an intense political conversation. Really was interesting while being deeply disturbing at the same time. This was in the early 90's and their predictions for the future thankfully haven't played out there or anywhere.

The guy we were talking too was a trained chef and wanted to come to the US to get a job. My wife's loud parting comment to him was, and remember we'd had more than a couple beers, "you should come to the states for a job, but you are going to have to leave that Nazi sh!t here!" :flipoff2:

He was pretty good natured about it... but we left a bit faster than we arrived, even with the stumbling.

My son is flying back today from Brussels - having completed his first semester of college. Lives just outside of town with relatives. Up until just recently he was taking the train with friends to surf the Brandenburg Pier - then the trips turned to snowboarding somewhere or another. Don't hide the fact I'm a little bit jealous.

Loved Brussels - relatives took my ex and I all over the place to see the sights, castles, World War I and II fortresses, Brugge (great story by the way), even the red light district and the beautiful square with the flag made of flowers...

Going back next year - and most likely back thru France, Spain and Northern Italy - but definitely plan on spending more time in Belgium this trip.

He better bring me back some good pics of secret Land Cruiser stashes!
