So I ordered the 2" ironman lift from metal tech. I decided that if I am going to the trouble of taking the 120,000 mile shocks out to put a lift spacer in, I might as well just replace the shocks. So, now I have the lift on the way. My question is, can I put the 2" lift spacer on top of the new shocks or is that asking for problems?

Here is some good info on spacer lifts w/ Toyota IFS that might answer your questions:
Slee - An overview of Toyota IFS Suspenison Lifts

I had a preload spacer on an FJ (Toytec kit) with Bilstein 5100s and Eibach 2" springs and the spacer wasn't really necessary. On that kit you could preload the springs via preload style spacer or with the retainer clip on the shock. Two different ways to achieve the same thing. Additionally, you can install a top plate spacer on top of the coilover, but it really limits your down travel and can cause your UCA to impact the coil spring along with increasing your CV angle, again speaking from experience. I would recommend sticking with just your Ironman lift. Less prone to failure and better ride.
