When I was in high school, all I ever wanted was the new FJ60 wagon. About 2 years ago, after 20 some odd years of wishing, I broke down and bought one. I quickly experienced all the the FJ60 had to offer, including the cost of smog repairs and parts.

However, I still love the thing to death. It starts every time, and hauls all of my outdoor gear along with my 2 dogs.

Now I have decided to add some more off road items for it. I need some heavy duty shackles, and I am wondering about length. I want to put 31's on it. I don't want to go any higher than necessary as I do drive it on the highway often enough. Will 31's fit with the stock shackles with no problem?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have sagging springs and stock shackles on my '84 running 31" BFG all terrains with no rubbing issues at all, you should be good.

33x9x15 will fit without longer shackles on stock wheels.
31's shouldnt be a problem.

31's are no problem whatsoever. Where do you live cause I have a nice set of them for sale.

If you are going to upgrade your shackles I would do the shocks and springs at the same time. The improvement is night and day different.

I live in the SF bay area.

The wagon has seen some very limited time off road, if at all. Tires, shocks, and shackles are just about a must at this point.

i have a set of HD lift shackles i just pulled off my 60 when i put an OME lift on i can take a photo and post if you want to see them.

While you are working on your suspension, if nothing else, have a good look over your stock springs to make sure they aren't broken at all. To do it right, you would really have to remove the u-bolts and "covers" under the axles. I think this is a common place for leaves to break, and you don't realize it until you put another set of springs on.

Sure.

Just out of curiousity, how much lift did they give you?

here are the pics comes with grade 8 bolts with nylon lock nut.

the fronts are 5.25 center to center and the rears are 6.25 center to center. i think this is equal to 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch lift.
