Dudes. Help.

This isn't a landcruiser question but if someone is willing to help me with an answer it will save me lots of money so I will have it to spend on cool things for my landcruiser thereby turning it indirectly into a landcruiser issue thank you very much end of run on sentence.

Here's the deal. I want to fix the A/C in my wifes 240 volvo. The volvo guys want $1000. for the job, parts and labor. They say its the compressor. I can swap a compressor no problem. The question is whether there is really an difference between the $210. acdelco compressor and the $400. OEM part. Which should I buy?

Any thoughts? Assuming this slides by the cruisernet police.

Barry when I fixed Ashley's I went factory.

I cannot comment on Delco quality but I would definatly do the work yourself. Not that scary.
One thing to remeber you will need Orings/AC clutch/receiver dryer....more $$.

There is a Volvo service shop called Volvo Specialists on Lynch street near Metrocenter mall. Ask them to pull a good compressor for you and put it in yourself. You may have to be patient as service is their business, not used parts sales.

Their number is 601-922-9250.

Is your problem the compressor or the compressor clutch?

Thanks Lash. Allen Enterprises diagnosed it as the compressor. But that was a while ago. I haven't had ac for a couple of years.
