Hi everyone.

I’ve got a ‘93 FZJ80 - issue is the A/C blows ice cold at startup for about 4 mins till engine warms up. After it warms, the a/c amplifier or a/c system amp behind the glove box starts clicking on and off and the rpm starts jumping and the a/c stops working.

The compressor and clutch are also cycling in and off when this occurs.

I’ve filled the system, there are no leaks and there is also the required oil in the system as well.

Any ideas? I’d appreciate it.

How did you fill the system? Have you hooked up gauges to see what you pressures are at?

Send it back to mechanic friend, along with copy of AC pages from FSM.
Without knowing what the gauge readings are, we can't do much other than guess.
If it's working sort of, then the compressor clutch starts kicking in and out, that would suggest the suction side (low pressure) is getting starved and thus tripping the low pressure sensor until enough refigerant seeps into that side to trigger the clutch again.
This points to a non-functioning Expansion Valve.
But you need the gauge readings to tell for sure.

Fantastic! Thanks for the help. I will do that.
