Hey Folks,

The P/O removed the belt on the A/C in my truck, and I picked up a new belt as I'm heading south into the heat and would love a little relief from the greenhouse effect on that front window. Went to put it on yesterday but couldn't get the idler pulley to adjust. The bolt on the top just unthreaded and didn't seem to adjust the pulley at all.

Any tips?

Nearly sweated my balls off yesterday and I'm not even South of Portland.

Thanks guys!

I was in Portland yesturday. That place is deadly hot, some places hitting almost 40C (104F). What truck do you have. My LJ78 with the 2L-TE adjuster is on the side. I really need to take out the airbox to get at the adjuster. The bolt on the idler just loosens it then the bolt on the side adjusts it in my case. I'll see if I can find a pic.

This isn't it.. but it's the same idea....... maybe it applies to the 3b-t also.

After loosening the bearing nut a turn or two, so it can slide...... I've had to tap it with a rubber mallet to get it to move. You don't need to take off the idler pulley for it to move, just loosen the nut then turn the adjuster bolt.

Jarrat is right. Nut on pulley needs to be loosened before adjustment can begin.
