I know there is a FAQ on this somewhere but I haven't been able to find it. Anyway for all of you out there whose HVAC system has gone haywire and you've tracked it down to the A/C Amplifier under the drivers side dash. This is only applicable to the Lexus LX450 and the 40th anniversary trucks with automatic climate control. Before you drop $500 on a new box, try this simple fix, take the unit out, the lid comes of and the circuit board just slides out as it is in 2 slots. then spray it down with WD40. For those of you that don"t play with electronics it is the worlds best electronics cleaner. Now wipe off the corrosion were you can, especially on the chip and between the reisistors on the bottom. Try not to break off any parts. Now clean out the box (dump the water) put it back together and try it out. It won't solve the problem everytime but it work for me as my unit wasn't in too bad shape, just minor rusting.

Hope this saves a few of you a few bucks.
Cheers

Just a quick warning, for those with this unit, the next time you are under the dash, take the A/C Amplifier out and clean it, for some reason, Toyota left the top of a cricuit board unit open and subject to water intrusion, if you catch it early it will probably save you in the long run.

Wd40 is not the best electronics cleaner, it actually conducts electricity before it dries and leaves a residue. This could could be problematic with sensitive electronics. While it does work wonders with connections such as trailer plugs and battery terminals I would stick with a true electronics cleaner like CLC or the like. If it works for you then by all means use it, but I thought I should say something:)
