99LC "Check Engine" Light & Brakes Getting Soft? (1 Viewer)

Happened at the same time. Brake pedal feel started getting a spongy (but pedal stops firmly about 15% of the way down, but stopping power is DIMINISHED), pumping doesn't effect them much (maybe 5% more response), within a few days "Check Engine" came on. I pulled the wheels and the rotors are smooth and pads at 50%+ (LC only has 61k, I replaced pads at 32k). Lots of fluid, no rust, no leaks.

I'm guessing ABS fault? Help. Can't afford dealership repairs here in Texas.

I'd get the codes pulled and report back. That should be free at Autozone or somewhere like that. Then you can get the troubleshooting experts best shot at the problem.

Brakes would not give you a CE light. My guess, if the vehicle is still running well, is that you have a bad O2 sensor. Your mileage is very low, BUT I would still imagine it might be that.
