Hi
My inspiration for buying my lx was my moms. As I was replacing a coil pack on her truck the other day I didn't notice a timing belt sticker. Checked her records and nothing. She has always taken it to Lexus and has kept it meticulously maintained as to their recommendations. My question is this: Lexus never made any mention of her needing a major 90k service including a timing belt and water pump. Should they have? Is there any recourse? Should she expect a discount on the work? Its the only lexus dealership in town so running isnt an option...luckily there wasn't a catastrophic failure and I just noticed the missing sticker. She is now only 20k away from what should have been her second replacement.
Any ideas?
Thanks

LOL They don't have to tell your mom jack s***. Now its in their best interest so they can make $$$ but never required. Tell your mom to read the "owners manual" the part with recommended services...

To be honest, they prob told her and she just shrug if off. A lot of those customer don't really know anything about their vehicle.

I don't get it. You haven't lost anything. Get the first timing belt and water pump service done now and you're money ahead.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I was just shocked to see how far beyond she went, trusting them to tell her what was recommended. They had quite a few opportunities and nothing showed on paper. I will show her the manual and mud as well. Luckily she has me lol. I was worried when I bought mine and it had gone 10k past that service.

Surprising that they didn't tell her, but the only reason stealerships tell people is to make $$$, not because they actually care. It's definitely not something they have to do, totally the owner's responsibility.

Look on the bright side, she was able to skip $1500 in maintenance without failure. Change it now and no harm done.
